Village of Merrickville-Wolford

Known as the Jewel of the Rideau. The largest centre of this dynamic community is Merrickville, one of the best preserved 19th century villages in Ontario. Communities in Bloom called it "Canada's Most Beautiful Village." It has more than 100 historic buildings designated as heritage sites. The Blockhouse Museum, operated by Parks Canada, is a National Historic Site and part of the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Its charming downtown core is lined with unique shops, artists' studios, boutiques and restaurants. People view it as a destination because of its charm and abundance of artisan shops. Merrickville is home to many festivals, including the Rideau Woodland Ramble for gardening enthusiasts. In Wolford, dairy farms dominate the landscape.
