Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands

The Township straddles the Frontenac Axis, a geological formation linking the Canadian Shield to New York's Adirondack Mountains. A portion of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, a UNESCO site, is located within its borders. This enterprising township has farmers who contribute sales of pedigree livestock, hay, and frozen bovine embryos to foreign markets. There are thriving and revitalized communities overlooking the Rideau Canal Heritage Corridor, a World Heritage Destination. Rockport, home of Rockport Boat Line, was where the township signed its friendship agreement with 1000 Islands China in 2009.
The community offers an excellent quality of life where residents can live, work and vacation all in one place. The municipality has riverfront vistas and many inland lakes to enjoy. The township encompasses some 1,078,641 hectares and is served by trans-Canadian rail and highway arteries. The Thousand Islands International Bridge is within the township linking to New York State. Much of the township is within the famous 1000 Islands region and it has approximately 950 islands.
