Township of Athens

The Township of Athens is part of the region's heartland and is famous for its lakes and cottage country. Charleston Lake is the jewel of the area, attracting boating, fishing and water sport enthusiasts. Athens holds its Cornfest and Farmersville Exhibition each year. The Parade of Lights is a top event the first weekend in December. The Fireworks Festival is a summer highlight in early July and the Charleston Lake Regatta is held during the long weekend in August.
The Township of Athens has all the amenities of a larger community but with a small-town atmosphere and strong agricultural roots. A cross section of this community's businesses include G. Tackaberry and Sons Construction Ltd, R.A. Howard Bus Service Ltd., and Willard's Bakery Products.
