Message from the MP

As the Member of Parliament for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, I always appreciate any opportunity to talk about the exceptional and diverse economy in our region.

In Leeds Grenville, we are fortunate to enjoy a diverse range and assortment of different types of businesses. Our community features everything - from Mom-and-Pop shops that have been around for generations to large, multi-national corporations - all built on the solid foundations of our manufacturing and innovative agricultural sectors.

The region is ready for investment and open for business.

Furthermore, so many people are attracted to Leeds Grenville because of its natural beauty, and the steady advancement of our tourism industry offers ongoing proof of that.

Most of all, I believe that we are truly blessed with a strong sense of community here in Leeds Grenville. This contributes to a shared sense of optimism and a collective desire to see everyone succeed and prosper. This has also helped us to build and maintain a dynamic and highly-skilled workforce that is ready to face all of the challenges of the future head-on. Further evidence of our deep sense of community is demonstrated through cooperation and teamwork from all levels of government when we get to work on large projects.

As your Member of Parliament, it is with a deep sense of pride that I reflect upon our past - and with hope, optimism and excitement that I look towards our future.

Please know that my door is always open.

Message from the MPP

As Leeds Grenville's Member of Provincial Parliament, I'm always excited to talk about what makes this part of Ontario such a great place to do business.

If you spend even a short amount of time here, you will see that the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville boasts an amazingly diverse economy. Here, multi-national corporations, cutting-edge technology firms and small entrepreneurs who are ready to make a big breakthrough work side by side with the traditional agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors. Add in a rapidly expanding tourism sector and you have an economic base that's as varied and as rich as the landscape upon which it's all built.

Of course, none of the region's many success stories happen by chance alone. That is why I have been so impressed with the efforts of the United Counties Economic Development Office staff and elected officials alike to nurture the growth of business here and attract new investment. The annual Economic Development Summits are an example and show how everyone is willing to work together.

These efforts and initiatives, such as the website you are now exploring, are proof that the United Counties are indeed 'united' when it comes to building a prosperous and sustainable economy in Leeds Grenville.

One of the great things you'll find about doing business here is that when you knock on one door - whether it's at the municipal level, at my provincial office or at MP Michael Barrett's federal office - you will discover that many doors open at the same time.

Steve Clark, MPP, Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes,

Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing

Message from the Warden

It is an incredible honor to serve as Warden of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. This region, with its unique blend of urban growth and deep rural character, has shaped who we are today and will continue to shape our future. I am immensely proud of the resilience, innovation, and loyalty demonstrated by our residents and business leaders, and I am committed to ensuring that this spirit drives our progress forward.

As we look to the future, we face significant challenges—housing, healthcare, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and more. Together, we will work to confront these challenges head-on, building solutions that not only meet today’s needs but also set a strong foundation for future generations.

Key initiatives during my time as Warden will focus on:

  • Increasing Supportive Housing: Ensuring everyone has access to affordable, suitable housing that meets their needs.
  • Upgrading Our County Road Networks: Investing in our infrastructure to keep communities connected and support local business growth.
  • Strengthening Healthcare: Working to enhance access to quality healthcare services, including long-term care and paramedic services.
  • Expanding Childcare Options: Increasing access to childcare for families across Leeds Grenville, helping support working parents.
  • Celebrating 175 Years of History: Commemorating our rich history while embracing the promise of a bright future for all who live here.

It is my commitment to bring my very best to this role, fostering open dialogue, respectful decision-making, and strong partnerships with our communities. Together, we will continue to grow Leeds Grenville and demonstrate why, in this region, lifestyle grows good business.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together.

Sincerely,

Corinna Smith-Gatcke
Warden, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville
